Podiatry Clinic At

Orange Grove MediSpa

The team at Orange Grove, decided that with the opening of a Diabetes Clinic, the addition of a Podiatrist in the MediSpa would be a very useful clinic.

Introduction

What Is Podiatry?

Podiatrists are skilled in routine foot care, including nail trimming, callus and corn removal, and management of common foot ailments such as athlete’s foot and ingrown toenails.

Podiatrists perform thorough examinations to assess the overall health of the feet and ankles. They examine the skin, nails, joints, and muscles to identify any abnormalities, deformities, or signs of disease.

Diabetic individuals require specialized foot care due to the potential complications associated with diabetes. Podiatrists provide comprehensive foot examinations, nerve function testing, and wound care to prevent and manage diabetic foot ulcers, infections, and other related conditions.

Complications can often be avoided or delayed with annual comprehensive foot exams and treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Normally four to five treatments are necessary at weekly intervals; there is a small possibility that 2 or more additional treatments may be necessary if your condition is very chronic. Should you not respond in this time, your case will be reviewed with the foot specialist to determine if a change in treatment protocols is necessary. Success rates with shockwave have been about 80% in the scientific literature, depending on the condition.

Prolotherapy

What is Prolotherapy ?

Prolotherapy is an injection treatment used to relieve pain. A small amount of an irritant is injected into your body. Dextrose (sugar) solution is the most commonly injected irritant. Prolotherapy can relieve pain by jumpstarting your body’s natural healing abilities.

Can prolotherapy help?

Prolotherapy can provide significant pain relief and improved function of the knee, ankle, midfoot and big toe joints that have become arthritic. Strained and stretched ligaments can be strengthened and tightened through prolotherapy, this is particularly important in knee and ankle instability following injury.

Longstanding Achilles tendinopathy can be improved through prolotherapy by stimulating healing of the damaged tendon fibres and causing new tendon growth.

Bunion pain is often a result of strained ligaments caused by the displacement of the big toe joint. Prolotherapy can strengthen the strained and damaged ligaments, reducing the pain and improving mobility at the joint.

Normally 4 to 6 Prolotherapy treatments are required.

I have diabetes. Can I have sugar injected into me for prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy is a safe treatment for diabetics. The sugar that is injected (dextrose) does not cause an increase in blood sugar levels, meaning no alterations to diet or medication is required.

The Cutera GenesisPlus is a cutting-edge laser designed for podiatrists to take on your nail infections.

Toenail Fungus Laser Treatment (genesis Plus)

The Cutera laser focuses a narrow beam of intense light through the toenail to irradiate the fungus underneath. This kills the fungi living under the nail, allowing new, healthy nail tissue to grow in and push the nail damaged by the infection out. Because the highly focused light heats the nail, the Cutera device has an integrated sensor that monitors the temperature of the area being treated. This allows the doctor to adjust the laser parameters according to how you are feeling, to keep the procedure as comfortable as possible.

The procedure is noninvasive with no post-procedure recovery time preventing you from working. Most cases are resolved with one to two laser treatments.

Ozone Therapy At Orange Grove

What Is Ozone Therapy

Diabetic foot ulcer is one of the common complications of the diabetes disease that is often costly and difficult to treat.

Amputations of toes or feet , can be attributed to ischemia, infection, neuropathy, faulty wound healing, ulceration, gangrene, and initial minor trauma.

Foot and leg bagging using ozone gas is now available at Orange Grove Medi Spa.

Ozone is a gas that can optimize cellular metabolism and, because of its antioxidant and antibacterial effects, can help with the better healing of diabetic foot ulcer.

The use of local ozone therapy can markedly improve healing of diabetic foot ulcers with low incidence of recurrence.

The Podiatrist will carefully dress foot ulcers in between ozone treatment, so that effective wound dressing, combined with ozone bagging have excellent results in curing diabetic foot ulcers.

Dressing with honey, or green papaya, or silver dressings together with ozone treatments are now recognized as an alternative treatment for diabetic foot and leg ulcers.

For most patients, ozone therapy follows a course of six to ten treatments. Typically, you’ll see an improvement in your condition within the first three or four treatments.
